Night River Rafting Rishikesh – The Moon light Rafting .

The official time for river rafting in Rishikesh is from sunrise to sunset.
Some experienced guides who have worked in the river since 2005 tell me a story about it.
It is called “MOON LIGHT TRIP” where these professionals went on a river rafting trip at night on full moon, as it was totally illegal and safe to do it in the middle of the night around 12–2 AM and only 4–5 people were part of it.

As the name this moonlight trip is done on the mood light without any other heavy lighting equipment. as they are are profaitional and having 15+ years of experience in the same route, now they now each and every tide on the river and the best technic to safely cross the rapid.

Because of some reasons, I can’t disclose the name of the guide and team, but they are my close friends and have years of experience with it. I’m not sure if they did it.

This was the time before COVID, and river rafting was not that popular in Rishikesh.

In this trip following equpments are used –

  • 1 Rafts
  • 1 Throw Bags

Day vs Night Rafting Trip

River rafting during the daytime, with the sun shining, is relatively straightforward. You can easily spot waves, rocks, and other obstacles in the water. However, attempting the same activity at night becomes far more challenging. Even on a full moon night, visibility is low, making it difficult to navigate the river safely. Successfully completing a night rafting trip requires highly experienced guides and a well-equipped support team.

Due to safety concerns, the Uttarakhand Tourism Board does not consider offering night rafting. The risk of accidents is significantly higher, and safety cannot be guaranteed.
